FAQ
Questions, answered
How much does AdvisoryReviews cost?
Nothing — matching and comparing advisors is free for you, always. We're compensated by participating advisors when you request an introduction, which is disclosed throughout the site and never changes what you pay an advisor.
Are the advisors fiduciaries?
Every advisor in the network is registered with the SEC or state regulators, and you can filter for fee-only fiduciaries in the matcher — advisors who are legally required to act in your best interest and never earn commissions on products.
What if I don't have a lot saved yet?
You still have options. The network includes flat-fee and advice-only planners with no asset minimums — the matcher automatically routes you to advisors who work with your asset level.
What's the difference between fee-only and fee-based?
Fee-only advisors are paid solely by you — a percentage of assets, a flat fee, or hourly — and never earn product commissions. Fee-based advisors may earn both. The matcher lets you screen for fee-only if that matters to you.
Do I have to hire an advisor I'm matched with?
No. Matches come with zero obligation. Take an intro call (or three), compare notes, and only move forward if someone genuinely earns your trust.
How are advisors screened?
The network screens for active SEC/FINRA registration, professional credentials like CFP® and CFA, clean regulatory history, and transparent published fees. Screening isn't a guarantee — always verify an advisor's record on the SEC's public database, and we link to it from every profile.
